Dog-Blooded Love Story 3

The spiritual energy swords swirling around Qin Jingzhou made him look like a miniature sun. The blades shot out in unison, devouring the fierce, surging fireball that had just been hurled at him, and then continued forward toward the extraordinary who had spoken up, trying to keep them from leaving.

That man, upon seeing Qin Jingzhou gather his sword energy, turned to run, but he was instantly swallowed up by the tidal wave of sword energy rushing at him like a tsunami.

Qin Jingzhou noticed his nominal son biting his lip instinctively at this scene and patiently explained, “It won’t take his life. Brat, if you ever attack me, I’d cut you in half.”

Xuan Qing’s lips trembled, and he mumbled, “Sorry.”

Ling Jing covered her forehead and couldn’t help but burst out laughing: This time, the big boss’s son is a little cute!

When the blinding light faded, the extraordinaries who had only dared to watch from afar finally plucked up the courage to fly closer… only to see that Western extraordinary pinned to the ground by dozens of spiritual swords glinting coldly.

Everyone glanced at the still-unhealed wound on Xuan Qing’s forehead, easily guessing at Qin Jingzhou’s feelings—this father was a bit protective, after all.

It was no effort for him to pin down a clueless Western extraordinary like that. Qin Jingzhou sat atop his spiritual sword and continued flying out of the mountain, sensing the heavy burden on his son’s mind. But the hand resting on his son’s shoulder didn’t move. He purposefully teased him, “Have you mastered the Ten Thousand Swords Technique?”

Xuan Qing muttered quietly, “I totally flunked it.”

They flew smoothly out through the Mountain Gate. Qin Jingzhou landed above his starry-eyed assistant and the bodyguards, then hopped off the sword and helped his son down, while Ling Jing floated gracefully to land behind him.

Qin Jingzhou introduced, “My son.” Then he looked at Ling Jing with a smile, “My friend.”

The assistant and bodyguards, as well as the guards at the Mountain Gate, all silently added the word “girlfriend” in front of “friend.”

The assistant greeted Xuan Qing first, “Young boss.” Then he and the others all turned to Ling Jing.

Ling Jing introduced herself: “My surname’s Qing, given name Qing. The ‘Qing’ in ‘beloved minister Qing,’ and the ‘Qing’ in ‘clear skies.’”

Qin Jingzhou slipped his arm around his son’s shoulder, smiling, “It sounds just like ‘devotion in love.’ Beautiful name.”

Ling Jing smiled but didn't reply.

The silent glances they exchanged... The assistant and the others wouldn’t dare call Ling Jing ‘boss lady’ to her face, but nothing was stopping them from saying it in private.

The assistant seized the moment while the boss was in a good mood. “Boss? What now?”

Qin Jingzhou replied, “Return to Capital City.” He turned to look at Xuan Qing, who had his head bowed, lost in thought. “Want to live with Dad from now on? Dad never married and you’re my only child.”

Xuan Qing hesitated for a moment, then quietly murmured, “Mm.”

Qin Jingzhou asked Ling Jing, “Would you like to come too?”

Ling Jing immediately accepted. “Sure!”

While traveling by helicopter to Xicheng City Airport, Ling Jing used voice transmission to share her current background. “I’m a Golden Core stage healer. The original host was a pill cultivator, but I’m not very good at alchemy—barely passable.”

Meeting Qin Jingzhou’s eyes, she added candidly, “Boss, my mission is still to handle the male and female leads of my world’s story. For the sake of their so-called true love,” she couldn’t help but curse, “risking the whole world’s destruction for a pair of brainless lovebirds. But I think once the world is out of crisis, they don’t matter much anymore.”

Qin Jingzhou nodded with a smile, “That’s exactly why I’m here.” He glanced at his son, who was looking out the window. “The son was just a bonus.”

With nothing urgent at hand, he grumbled to Ling Jing about his previous world’s experience. “I know the kids were grateful, but their emotions were so reserved. It always felt lacking.”

Ling Jing responded thoughtfully, “Father and son bonds are also about fate. This time... maybe it’s compensation.”

“True.” Qin Jingzhou reached over to pat his nominal son’s shoulder. The boy slowly turned his head, and Qin Jingzhou sent another surge of spiritual energy his way. “Does it still hurt?”

Xuan Qing smiled just a hint—it was hard to spot unless you looked carefully. “Doesn’t hurt. Maybe a little itchy.”

Qin Jingzhou ruffled his hair and sent another wave of spiritual energy. “You’ll be fine before we get home.”

Xuan Qing let him do as he liked, eyes narrowing pleasantly as he replied softly, “Mm.”

When Xuan Qing first emerged from the Main Coffin, the bloody wound in the center of his brow exposed even his brain matter. Now, there was only a half-palm-sized scab left. This was also why, when the assistant and bodyguards saw their Young Boss, they weren’t startled but just thought, ‘He really is the boss’s biological child.’

Of course, the assistant and the bodyguards adjusted their attitudes toward Xuan Qing after witnessing these interactions, and on the plane, the assistant was already busy: contacting the manor’s steward, preparing a room and daily necessities for the young boss.

Ling Jing’s instincts were even more straightforward: Who knew how sincere the boss would be, but sooner or later Xuan Qing was going to be a daddy’s boy.

They arrived smoothly back at the original host’s villa in the capital’s outskirts. Qin Jingzhou led his son to the specially prepared room—just upstairs from the main bedroom—and told him to wash up, then come down for dinner.

Xuan Qing tried to smile, “Okay.”

Having felt pity for him after reading the plot, now, seeing the real person, Qin Jingzhou decided to be even kinder to the child and promised, “Dad will help make your wish come true. It’ll take time, so don’t rush.”

Xuan Qing nodded, “Okay.” Watching his father walk away, he closed the door and blinked back sudden dampness in his eyes.

After showering, Xuan Qing opened the closet, picked out brand new clothes and changed, tossing aside the spirit silk robe he’d worn for years and which money couldn’t buy.

Since his talent had been tested, he’d been told his destiny was to save the world.

Even now, he didn’t regret entering the Main Coffin. What he resented was: I was willing to sacrifice myself, you all made so many promises, but why couldn’t you even protect my lover?

He couldn’t fathom it, no matter how many Nascent Soul stage seniors tried to “talk sense” into him, sometimes even using force. He finally lost his temper, beat them up, but still couldn’t understand!

Then his Dad showed up out of nowhere, finished it all with a single sword, and he calmed down.

Luckily, his Dad used the legendary, lost Energy-Sealing Array to rescue him—no need for magnanimity, and more importantly, he actually cared about his feelings and wanted to help him fulfill his wish.

It was okay even if his Dad couldn’t succeed… He could understand. It was enough that his Dad had the heart.

He realized, though, that the Energy-Sealing Array, as good as it was, consumed immense spiritual stone resources, and in the end… he’d probably still have to pay with his life.

But for now, he should be safe. Having left the Main Coffin, he no longer had to worry. He could enjoy living with his father for a while.

Having figured this out, Xuan Qing pressed a hand to his heart and whispered, “Xiao Mei, you think so too, right?”

After changing into a white shirt and casual pants, and tying up his mid-length hair, he went downstairs to have dinner with his dad.

By now, Qin Jingzhou and Ling Jing had also showered and changed, and were sitting at the dining table, chatting and laughing.

Xuan Qing felt a little complicated seeing this sight.

His stepfather Zhong Dewen had treated him well, even better than his own mother, Xuan Helin. When his stepfather and mother had a child together, it wasn’t that they treated him badly, but there was a certain distance.

He wasn’t really jealous, just a bit dissatisfied.

Qin Jingzhou was an old hand at fatherhood. Seeing this little expression, he guessed what his son was thinking. “Dad will never remarry,” he said, pointing to the chair beside him. “Come sit.”

Ling Jing smiled and explained, “I’m just your dad’s friend.”

Xuan Qing didn’t really believe it, but he was never the type to make things awkward, so he simply and directly sat down next to his dad.

Qin Jingzhou continued, “Today’s food is make-do, but tomorrow you’ll have spiritual meals.”

Xuan Qing wasn’t surprised at all given his Dad’s abilities. He replied earnestly, “I can cook pretty well too.”

Qin Jingzhou chuckled, “That’s good to hear. How about Dad helps you get your little girlfriend back?”

Two souls and two spirits out of Yuan Lingmei’s three souls and seven spirits were with him. Xuan Qing, try as he might to stay calm, burst out of his seat, “Really?!”

Qin Jingzhou grinned, “I might smack you, but I wouldn’t lie. Sit down. Let’s eat together.”

Getting the signal, the housekeeper headed to the kitchen to notify the chef to serve dinner.

Xuan Qing sat back down and, after a long silence, whispered, “Thank you, Dad.”

Qin Jingzhou put his arm around his cheap son’s shoulder and exchanged a smile with Ling Jing.

While Xuan Qing had been in the Main Coffin, protected by the Sealing Array, he’d been able to take down any Nascent Soul level cultivator who came his way. Yet his real cultivation was only late Golden Core stage, and he still needed sleep.

No matter how emotional, with an energy-calming talisman from his dad, he was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

The next morning, both the extraordinary community and the authorities came calling. At that moment, Qin Jingzhou was still having breakfast with Ling Jing, while Xuan Qing was still asleep.

Qin Jingzhou got right to the point. “You’ve already inspected the Sealing Array?”

Of course they’d checked it personally.

Yet after seeing it, the official team and the extraordinary guests could only sum up their feelings in one sentence: The boss is awesome!

Previously, just approaching the Sealing Array had felt like standing in front of a volcano that could erupt any second. Now, with the Energy-Sealing Array in place, even though the Main Coffin was empty, to these extraordinaries it just felt like an ordinary cave with a bit too much yin energy. Plus, with a wave of his hand, the boss had nailed dozens of spiritual swords into the Western extraordinary right before their eyes…

With a boss whose heritage and strength were so impressive, of course they had to act with respect.

After listening to five minutes of their stuttering flattery, Qin Jingzhou soon lost patience. “If you haven’t decided what you want or what you’re offering in return, just go home for now.”

With that, he teleported the whole group outside the gates.

They had no choice but to say their farewells.

Afterward, Ling Jing took out her phone, pointed to the screen, and summarized, “My sect leader and Master both told me to be on your good side. One of the visitors earlier was my martial uncle, and he said the pressure from you was overwhelming, he couldn’t say a word… Boss, you did it on purpose, didn’t you?”

Qin Jingzhou nodded. “Yep. They just came to plead. Seeing my son could leave the Main Coffin, they’re hoping that means other extraordinaries in the Spiritual Coffins might also be temporarily freed.”

Ling Jing asked, “And in reality?”

“When I set up the Energy-Sealing Array, the spiritual runes of the coffins stopped draining their life force. However, the residual negative energy in the Array will keep eroding them. Give them at most five days and they’ll come round.” Just then, Xuan Qing came downstairs. Qin Jingzhou looked at his son and said, “These extraordinaries who volunteered for sacrifice are half-saints in their own right, but they all pressured my son to put the greater good over his own feelings—easy for them to say when they’re not the ones suffering. If they hadn’t ganged up on him, my son wouldn’t have lost control so quickly. I want to let them suffer a few more days as payback, especially Zhong Dewen and Xuan Helin.”

Xuan Qing came over to Qin Jingzhou, “Dad, I’m going grocery shopping.” And out he went.

Ling Jing watched him go, then leaned in and whispered to Qin Jingzhou, “Your son’s blushing, you know.”

Qin Jingzhou replied, “He is pretty sweet.” Then, with a flick of his fingers, he teleported a few spiritual stones directly into his son’s hand, along with a voice transmission: Grocery money and allowance.

Ling Jing, having watched the whole exchange, blurted out, “Boss, you’re really spoiling in this world!”

Top-grade spiritual stones counted as major strategic resources among extraordinaries here. Normally, people couldn’t bear to use them at all.

Qin Jingzhou smiled, “Because I want to.”
